How can a Healing session help your pet or animal?
As with human Reiki, animal Reiki is a safe, gentle, non-diagnostic, hands on or near, healing therapy that is performed without pressure or manipulation. Reiki healing helps balance the energy flow throughout the body, stimulating your animal's natural healing process which can enable it to feel more relaxed and calm. Reiki is activated by intent and the Practitioner is guided by their intuition and training. Being an intelligent energy, Reiki will travel to where it is most needed, as it is drawn in by the animal. The treatment can be a revitalising holistic experience and Reiki will work for the animal's highest good, on a diverse range of emotional, physical and spiritual issues.
For example on a practical level Reiki can help with: anxiety, emotional, behavioural, physical symptoms, physical illnesses and injuries. Reiki helps healthy animals to maintain their health, supporting relaxation and emotional contentment. With animals that are ill, Reiki complements Veterinary treatment and all other forms of healing. Reiki is a gentle way to provide comfort and helps relieve anxiety, pain and fear to help ease the transition to dying.
Legally Reiki practitioners are not allowed to diagnose a problem or suggest treatment. If the client would like a diagnosis for their symptoms, they should seek medical advice from their Veterinary Surgeon.
What I do before a Reiki treatment
Before a Reiki Practitioner gives a Reiki treatment to your animal, you must first seek approval from your Vet. This should be a straight forward phone call, to establish that your Vet is happy for your animal to receive Reiki.
Reiki is a complementary therapy and is not intended to replace Veterinary care and advice.
On the treatment day I will take some details about your pet/animal and its history and ask you as the owner, to sign the treatment consent form.
The Healing session
The Reiki treatment needs to take place in an environment where your animal feels safe and relaxed. After spending a little time getting to know your animal with you, I will start healing at a pace guided by them.
Every pet/animal is unique and consequently every healing session is different but I would expect a treatment to last for approximately 30-45 minutes.
£30 for your pet/animal Reiki session lasts for approximately 30-45 minutes.
Travel costs are charged at 45p per mile outside a 5 mile radius of Priddy, Somerset.
First appointments will include a free consultation so please allow an extra 15 minutes
to talk through the treatment process and sign the treatment consent form.
It is very important that you obtain veterinary treatment for a sick animal and before I can carry out a Reiki treatment on your horse you must first seek approval from your vet and inform them that you wish them to have Reiki. For your information the paragraph below sets out the relevant legislation with regard to treating animals:
The Veterinary Surgery Act of 1966 prohibits anyone, other than a qualified veterinary surgeon from treating animals, including diagnosis of ailments and giving advice on such diagnosis. However, the healing of animals by contact healing, by the laying on of hands or distant healing is legal.
The Protection of Animals Act 1911 requires that if an animal clearly needs treatment from a veterinary surgeon the owner must obtain this. To give emergency First Aid to animals for the purpose of saving life or relieving pain is permissible under the Veterinary Surgeons Act 1966 Schedule 3.
